The only reason why one might choose Toronto would be because of the language issue for you really need to have an acceptable knowledge of the French language otherwise. The second and last reason that I would leave Montreal is for a specialized career opportunity but otherwise I would never leave. The only thing I hate about Montreal are the road conditions that are horrifying. If you make less than 100k good luck living in Toronto from paycheck to paycheck. How you managed to save money in Toronto is a bit of an exaggeration unless if you have an extremely well paying job which would explain your statement.

Okay so here's what you didn't talk about, what nobody ever talks about. You only spoke about the capitals in each province which are the smallest fraction what what Canadian culture and economy are truly like. Burley Canadian culture, affordable homes, crazy landscapes, island paradises, the artic all hold a rarely told tale. Everyone complains about affordable housing where virtually everywhere in Canada is affordable. Excluding Vancouver and Toronto metropolitans. Culture is back and white from these 49th paralleled cities to anyplace else in Canada. - born, raised and traveled Canada.

I did notice the roads in Ontario and Quebec to be a bit more rundown , but I blame that on the snow I guess. I live in Texas, it’s also a beautiful state and I am gay, it is gay friendly and not what they make you think. Austin is beautiful and so is San Antonio’s river walk. I hope you get to visit one day, plenty of cheap direct flights from Toronto.

Canada needs more immigrants, should you move to Canada? Canada will welcome 465,000, 485,000, and 500,000 immigrants in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Canada is facing shortage of workers. There are several categories under which people can apply for immigration. Opportunities for new immigrants 1. It is very easy to get a job paying minimum salary of $15 per hour. Immigrants can easily get a job as retail sales person, grocery store clerks, warehouse workers, security guards, construction workers. 2. With some training in Canada they can get even a skilled job paying up to $30 per hour. But to practice as Electrician, Welder, Mechanic, Plumber, Carpenter type of skills, you may need to spend 4-5 years to get certified in Canada. 3. There are lots of self-employment opportunities, you can become a real estate agent, mortgage agent, insurance agent, taxi driver, or open own office or retail store. 4. After settling in Canada, you can travel all over Canada, USA, and Mexico. 5. There is lots of natural scenery here, and air is clean. 6. Once you are 65, you will get old-age pension for the rest of your life. Challenges 1. Immigrants in Canada are treated as workers, regardless of their education and experience. Only small percentage of professionals like doctors, dentists, engineers lawyers get to practice their profession here, 90% or more end up as "workers". 2. Rents are increasing at a high speed. One bedroom apartment may cost you $2,000 per month, 2 bedroom $2,500, and an independent 3/4 bedroom house $3,500. 3. Food prices are also rising very fast, many vegetables cost about $6-8 per kilogram. 4. Public transportation (trains, and buses) is becoming very crowded 5. In cities, roads are becoming very congested. 6. Sales tax can cost you about 12% in most of the provinces. 7. Everybody has to file taxes at the end of year. Income tax is paid to the central government as well as to the state government. 8. Canadian School Education system is not good, it doesn't encourage students to develop their brains. All students are promoted to next class without any examination. Students don't have to remember anything, think or learn a second language. 9. Health care system is perhaps the worst in the world. Out patients in hospitals have to wait up to 12 hours to see a doctor. It may take 3 months to get a medical test like MRI, and 3-6 months to get a specialist's appointment. Canada has a huge short of doctors, hospitals, and medical equipment. 10. As there's a huge shortage of dentists, the dental services are very expensive in Canada. 11. It is very cold in Winter. The winter season lasts for about 6 months in most of Canada. Except for British Columbia, there is lots of snow falls all over Canada. Prof. Kuldip Pelia Surrey, Canada

I first moved to WInnipeg in 1984 and moved away in 1990. I've lived in many cities in North America and vowed myself I would never move back. Well, I was told Winnipeg had changed, not many mosquitoes, for one thing. The only reason I moved back is because I have adult sons who live here. I'm trying to convince them to leave the city, as I want to leave too. The people can be friendly, yes, but they're also a bit slow and seem to have settled for things they've given up fighting for: better roads, work ethics, high crime. The highest speed fines in NA are in Winnipeg, is this why people go slower than the speed limit? Perhaps. There are no highways, truly. Getting anywhere is torturous for this reason and because the roads are just not maintained for long term abuse. There is limited funding for road maintenance and the ground is made of muskeg, so it moves continuously, therefore not resilient. Rubber roads would be better suited as they are maintenance free and last longer. Property tax is one of the highest in the country. Downtown has no parking and unfortunately too many buildings to make it look appealing as it did in the early 1900s. Then there is the meat processing plant in St Boniface: it smells like death and depending on which direction the wind is blowing, you will smell it, it's nauseating! The ground in St Boniface has been contaminated by heavy metals from years of factories having operated in the area and people are advised not to plant a garden straight in the ground. Again, I have lived in many cities and the ones I would not mind living in again are Calgary, Alberta; Ottawa, Ontario: Québec City. For those who have never lived anywhere else but Winnipeg and never travelled, they may appreciate Winnipeg because they've gotten used to it and know nothing else. Understood.

Canadian companies as a whole do not want loyal employees. Canadian companies have too much power (which keeps growing unchecked). Corporate power in Canadian politics/government is a huge concern (where even the government cannot prevent blatant greed-flation). Canadian companies are do not pay employees adequately and they continue to cut employee benefits more and more (with many making record profits). This, in large, is causing a huge and quick decline in the Canadian standard of living (along with pushing more and more Canadians into economic stress and many below the poverty line, as the government continues to tax its citizens, and not its corporations, more and more). This is the growing nightmare with less hope for many/most Canadians. Even with a government change, the political choices do not seem strong nor competent enough to resolve this issue.

The Canadian job market can be very challenging for several reasons: (1) Canada is a small economy compared to other G7 countries, so there aren't that many jobs to begin with. (2) Being right beside the US, and being in NAFTA (now USMCA or CUSMA, depending on which country you're in), many many corporate jobs are in the US, and Canada is simply a branch operation of a US company. (The only exceptions I can think to this are Canadian bank jobs because Cdn bank HQs are in Canada.) (3) The job mkt in Canada is very opaque compared to other countries. A lot of jobs connections are made through people you know. (4) If you're new to this country, employers essentially discriminate against you by telling you that you do not have 'Canadian experience'. This is really quite ridiculous because Canadians love to think of themselves as inclusive, non-discriminatory, but this practice is totally discriminatory and has been going on for decades. Successive govts in Canada have talked about changing this, but that's all it's been - talk. Essentially, therefore, you either have to come to Canada with a job already lined up, or you're going to be screwed when you get here. Scams and fraud aren't a Canadian thing. They happen in the US as well, and in fact probably starts there and then spreads to Canada. As for your comments about Cdn banks, I personally find banking in Canada fairly easy. The experiences you have had sound to me like what I experienced in the UK. Finally, your comment about Canadians not speaking their minds.. it hasn't always been like this. The woke ideology that has been pushed by governments and schools in Canada probably in the last 10 or so years have created a society where no one can speak their mind or make jokes even or they'll be called racist.

It's too late.....Canada was the greatest nation in the world for the simple reason it was founded and controlled by WASPs. This disastrous experiment called "Multiculturalism" that another Trudeau came up with in 1971 has turned this great nation into the newest 3rd world sh*thole. This cannot be undone. Western civilization had a nice run.....looks like it's over. Enjoy the HELL you've created.

Its funny how I watched this video about moving to Canada to learn something new, but it turns out I currently live in a country that operates exactly the same way... I guess it won't be a shock to me when I move to CA 😂 btw, difficulty in making friends its not a Canadian thing. Its a human thing. Making friends when you are 30+ is inifintely harder than when you are younger. Everywhere in the world. People that age, in most cases, already have established families and friend circles, so they don't 'need' to make new friends.

As a Canadian, I'd say that your observations are accurate and reveals deep flaws in the Canadian way of life. I'm glad that you pointed out the problem of monopolies in Canada (but they're really oligopolies). The oligopolies have a stranglehold on the Canadian economy and the time has come to abolish these "gatekeepers" from our collective good. Canada is a country that felt safe in its relative isolation and fears being abandoned from the decades old nanny state. Trudeau has abused the trust that Canada had towards the government and Canadians are feeling very insecure about their future for probably the first time. I think this may be the catalyst for change that has been decades in the making.

Agreed, I am also a Canadian and having travelled extensively I find there are much nicer people than Canadians in the world.

As for education, private schools are booming in Canada now. I work in the sector and I see that.

Great to know, can you share a bit more context on this?

People, who have money, search for better options than the public sector can provide. I am just guessing, as I only know that the number of students in private schools grow, as well as the number of schools.

Stop calling Russia oppressed. If it is not allowed to advertise for LGBTQ, it doesn't make the entire country oppressed, especially when the population supports this way of dealing with western propaganda.

That’s none of our business what the population supports anymore. Luckily, everyone is entitled to their own conclusions and opinions.

@@MakeThatChange it just seems unfair that you say "I am from oppressed country", rather than "I felt oppressed". You draw a wrong conclusion out of your experience. It would be nice if you reffered to you experience rather than made a blunt statement. For exemple, I never felt that way, so such statements offend me, as I am a part of that culture.

I never felt oppressed living in Russia, so it wouldn’t be a fair statement.. but then again, I moved when I was a teenager, so I was pretty sheltered from most shenanigans many adults who’ve moved later in life experienced there, like my parents, colleagues and friends. So all in all I should have said “many people who come from my country feel oppressed” 🙃

The banking system was alot better when I grew up before the internet. The tellers were white and stayed for life and knew your whole family. Now its mainly minorities and the service is not as good or fast it seems many dont fully know their jobs.

Where I reside are many new cultures and its sad. No one talks to each other thry st❤ick to their own race. I feel like a foreigner now lol and when I was sick could not find anyone to help me here had to pay a girl down the hall to do my dishes and take my garbage
